He also recorded songs for many classic animated films such as You're a Mean 1, Mr. Grinch from How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966), Look Out for Mr. Stork and Pink Elephants on Parade from Dumbo (1941) and No Dogs Allowed from Snoopy, Come Home (1972).
He also voiced many characters including Kirby the Vacuum Cleaner in The Brave Little Toaster (1987), Monstro the Whale in Pinocchio (1940) and of course, Thing 1 in The Cat in the Hat television special (1971).
He was also married once to June Ravenscroft in 1946. June passed away back in 1999 from unknown causes.
He passed away in his home on May 22, 2005 from prostate cancer, and he was survived by his son and daughter, Ron and Nancy Ravenscroft.
He was buried at the Memorial Gardens at the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, California.
In the June 6, 2005, issue of the ad-industry journal Kellogg's ran an ad commemorating his memories. The headline read: "Behind every great character is an even greater man."
Right after his tragic passing away, voice announcer, Lee Marshall replaced him as the voice for Tony the Tiger in the new Kellogg's television commercials.
